LordKanti309's E.V.O.: Search for Eden (SNES)

    [January 25, 2008 06:55:52 PM]
    Gameplay:

As you play the game, it gets progressively funner as you evolve. The part where you're a fish is like a tutorial; oince you become an amphibian, you can evolve much more and become a lot stronger.

The only problem I've run into was that the gameplay gets repeatative. It gets annoying killing the same creatures over and over again in order to upgrade yourself. I find that if you play through the game killing as you go it's funner, yet morew challengeing.

    Design:

What I think makes this game good is that it's unique. It's nothing too special, but it touches on a topic that I've never seen any other game do. It feels almost like a really fun and interesting history lesson of dinosaurs, though not quite 100% accurate.

For a game made in the 1990's, it has some pretty good levels, although most of them are point A to point B kinds of levels. However, when you're swimming, you get a really accurate under water feel of the character. As well as that, if you upgrade to move fater or jump higher, you can really feel it in your character.

E.V.O. is a really fun game. I would suggest it to anybody who is looking for a good RPG.

    Summary:

E.V.O.: Search for Eden is a game that basically shows you the beginning of life on Earth and the stages of evolution. Your character starts the game as a small fish and must kill to become larger and stronger. After reaching a certain point, you turn into a basic amphibian. You must kill and evolve again, becme a dinosaur, a mammal, etc.

    Gameplay:

I have to say that the killing and leveling up is a tedious experience, but once you put that aside, it's a lot of fun killing random animals and eating their remains (do not be deceived by my description; the game is not very violent at all). For every creature you eat, you get some experience, which can be used to evolve yourself. Some evolutions make you stronger, others give you more health at the sacrifice of speed, and others make you really fast. The point is to make the strongest creature you can and kill your way through the game.

E.V.O. is quite similar to many SNES games with it's side scrolling aspect, but the evolving of your character makes this game unique. You don't necessarily have to buy the most expensive things; instead, you can buy many smaller upgrades, like shark fin, tail, jaws, etc. You can also save your evolutions and use them in a different game, but it wears off after 1 minute.

For me, this game is amazing mainly because I've always been very interested in prehistoric life. The game truly captures the idea of evolution and puts in actual creatures that used to live, such as the cockroach ancestor, sabretooth tigers, and even t-rex. If you're into dinosaurs or other prehistoric life, give this game a try.

This game is awesome! The concept of this game is fascinating. Not for people who prefer fast paced games, but still really cool.
