My high score is around 38k these days. I stopped trying to win every board, but now generate new random boards until I find one that looks promising. The key is to get lots of snoods of the same color on the very top, in a line, right at the edge of the board. Then you can drop the entire thing in one shot.
I got about 34k (my #2 score of all time) last night with a nice board with a long matched line on one side. I also got a decent bonus for needing only 83 snood total. I think my best board had matched lines on both sides and I got a double drop.
