Game Entry #2
GAMEPLAY
After playing this game for a while it’s important to do different combinations of tricks and turns because the more creative the trick the more points will be rewarded. Getting high scores and lots of points is a big deal in this game, so you want to land all the attempted tricks, especially if the event is timed and allows less time to get high scores.
DESIGN
I think this game does a good job of creating worlds where skateboarders are free to skate and not be ticketed or punished by law for vandalizing rails or ledges. Our culture and society views skateboarding as sort of a rebellious act and isn’t permitted in many places, so it is fun to play in this game where skateboarding is taken to the extreme and allows players to do big tricks anywhere. Each time the skater messes up on a trick blood splatters as he hits the ground. This makes it seem more realistic and reminds people of the danger of skating.
A distant background adds depth to the level and makes the level seem larger. Rails and ledges require the player to jump up a level and to push the grind button. This means players have to be fast and time their tricks. This makes it challenging to complete tricks. The skater also turns wide and kind of slow which makes it easier to hit objects than to avoid them. This game provides many challenges to keep players involved and trying to improve their skating skills. Challenges include helping people in worlds get objects which you skate to by completing series of jumps and rails and getting off the ground level; then there are the letters to spell “skate” scattered through the level; and other random challenges like smashing pumpkins. The thing I would change about this game I are the handling skills and make the skater better at landing tricks so he doesn’t have to waste so much time falling and getting up constantly.

Game Entry #1
SUMMARY
Tony Hawk Pro Skater 3 is a classic skateboarding game that became popular along with the pro skater Tony Hawk who became famous for doing the 900 (a trick that had never been done). This showed people how extreme of a sport skateboarding is. Then in this game, Tony Hawk and friends are professional skaters which you can control and are capable of doing extreme tricks and stunts. You skate around various cities in the world creating challenges and being professional skaters capable of doing big tricks for points.
GAMEPLAY
IN a free game world with various jumps, rails, stairs, and ledges to perform various grinds or board slides, flip tricks, or up to 900 degree turns (a special move for Tony Hawk). The most fundamental trick is the ollie, and timing to release the ollie button is a key part to successfully pulling off tricks. It is frustrating to mess this up because the character usually ends up falling on his face or stacking by hitting something. It’s possible to get hit by cars. Completing challenges unlocks new levels and decks for the skaters, which make me, try to get further and better at the game.
This game allows players to design worlds to skate or to create your own skateboarder. This makes it easier for me to get involved and customize a skater that appeals to me. For someone who has grown up skateboarding and watching skate videos this game allows a lot of freedom for me to choose tricks and rails to attempt without having to endure the physical pain that comes when skating in the real world. I enjoy playing and doing big tricks that I would never attempt in real life. The music features songs picked personally by the pro skaters in the game so it definitely gets me pumped up and makes me want to time and land tricks.
