I am happy that I waited to the last minute to finish my 3rd and final entry. After watching the documentary film of Super Columbine Massacre RPG!, I have a new view on the game and the creator.
From what I saw in the film, the creator is not the person that I thought he was. I thought the game was created as a joke and too maybe get publicity. It did get publicity, but the game creators motives were much more positive than I thought, according to the documentary.
I think the most powerful message in the documentary was a statement said by one of the game developers. He said that it was sad that he found out more about the Columbine Massacre through the game than on the news. I have to agree with him. As I said in the previous entry, I learned more about the motives, details, and aftermath of the event through this poorly made game. People who say that games don't influence people are wrong.
I ended up dying in the bonus level in hell. I thought this was interesting that the creator added this section in the game. I thought it was amusing how the old Doom 2 characters were used. I was a big fan of Doom 2. I didn't know until today that the shooters of Columbine were big fans of Doom 2 as well. Its hard for me to believe that this game alone influenced them to slaughter all of those people. Doom 2 doesn't even involve humans! Everyone is either dead or a demon. Today's games are more realistic with killing actual humans. I don't think that the hell portion of the game was necessary. This was almost promoting the fact they the killers were still having a good time in the afterlife. I think the game could have ended without this level.
All in all I was very disturbed by the game, but according to the creator, that was the point. If the creator wanted to put more of a reality on the events that happened that day through a game, he did a great job. I will probably never play this game again. Good assignment.

My second experience with playing Super Columbine Massacre was not much different from the first. I was still confused on what I had to do exactly. I knew what was to come, but the game play made it confusing. I did not like the controls. I was expecting more blood when you actually shot them, but I guess not. Usually when I play RPGs, the enemy is something that I can't wait to destroy. It was difficult for me to run around killing innocent people. I guess that's what separates us from those two kids. I thought it was ironic that the media trys to tell everyone that violent video games drove these kids to go on a killing spree. I thought to myself, games like this one? The games we play usually don't have you killing innocent humans. If there were more games like Super Columbine Massacre, I can see that argument being supported.
The flash backs of them in the cafeteria sitting alone made me angry. I can't even remember students in high school who sat by themselves at lunch ever. Even if there was one, that is a poor excuse to shoot up a school. They were just jealous and angry at the world for not being noticed. If they were getting physically beat up after school, that would be a more logical reason to hurt someone. Their excuses were unacceptable in my opinion.
I wasn't expecting the violent pictures at the end of the game. I think that was the most powerful part of Super Columbine Massacre. the pictures that appeared after your characters killed themselves were shocking. Those pictures put a better image in your head of the characters you were playing. I was confused about the 9/11 comment. I didn't know if the game developers just added that in there or came up with the idea that they thought like terrorist?
The last picture with the angel looking figure with the guns as wings was shocking. I stopped the game before going into Hell.

My first experience with playing super columbine massacre was very confusing. I don't remember much about the actual event. I watched the news and heard from other people on what happened and what the motives were. I hate to say that this game gave me a good background on what happened that day but it did have an influence.
The text between Eric and V was disturbing in my opinion. I was uncomfortable when the game started and they talked about getting ready to go to school. In my mind I pictured them in real life as being quiet and boring. The game portrayed them as almost being excited to go to school to kill everyone. I was under the impression that the event wasn't as well planned as the game showed it to be.
After getting the duffel bags and getting to school, I got lost. I walked around the parking lot not knowing what to do or what car I was suppose to go to. I was very disturbed when I met V on that lookout before we went into the school. The conversation was of pure hatred. It was hard for me to get into the game when I didn't agree with any of it. I was almost being forced to live the life of these two individuals who I would have no problem killing myself to save the innocent students. When they talked about the kids who made fun of them, they described people like me. They talked about the people who like to stay in shape and workout. I can tell that the two characters were jealous of others and that's why they hated them. I couldn't agree with what they were saying and that made me mad and I wanted to stop playing. I went back into the parking lot and exited the game.
