The decision to play GTA San Andreas during finals week definitely impacted some study time however, it was worth every minute. After fully completing the game I had the chance to look back and reflect what truly is unethical about this game compared to other GTA games. That fact that San Andreas includes monologue and actions in which the player can do such as eat, work out and even date all show a side that most games have not. You have absolute control over the character allowing certain choices to come back into play later in the game. When you date you progress further into the relationship allowing the player to have sex with the date. You have the choice to go to a bar and drink, come out drunk and commit more crimes. As far as the story line goes, the fact that you are in a illegal street gang contributes to the unethical message of this game compared to the mafiso style of other GTA games. As you progress through the game you leave the gang, do various illegal odd jobs than begin to work for casinos and certain mafia characters. The racial aspect of this game definitely shows as all of the black people are poor or in a gang as well as mexicans. As the white people are dressed nice and have more authority and money. One of the biggest ethical problems I came across in this game is when CJ is payed to infiltrate a government base, kill government employees and steal a jetpack. This differentiated itself than other GTA games for example GTA 3 which only relied on your character killing other gang members such as the triads. All in all I thought it was a great game however, I don't question the unethical practices of this game whatsoever.

I'm about halfway through the game already and I can safely say that this one of the most addicting games. As of now I have progressed to a mobster of sorts. CJ gets betrayed by his gang members and now lives in a replica San Francisco. I do not see any real bothersome ethical problems dealing with racism anymore. Mostly CJ's jobs include tormenting local shop owners and assassinating wanted men by the mob. It is very interesting to see the change in this game. In the game I have progressed from rags to riches it seems like. Following the basic formula of most GTA games this seems to be the outcome. I don't find GTA San Andreas anymore ethical wrong than the others, maybe less if anything. It is a classic story that reminds me of the formula between Scarface and a combination of other different gang related movies.

As I progress further into GTA: San Andreas I start to notice the racial elements and begin to question the ethics of this game. Although it is apparent in all GTA games there is a complete lack of ethics, San Andreas really shows. Some of the missions I have played involve using guns to intimidate people in order to gain more respect for your gang. The game revolves around gaining as much respect as possible by your fellow gang members. I believe that the biggest lack of ethics in this game stems from strictly playing as a gang member which seems to be the most bothersome part of the game to me.

GTA San Andreas is a different approach to the Grand Theft Auto franchise. Instead of working for the mob, the character you play in the game Carl Johnson is part of a gang named the Grove Street Families. The whole game consists of doing various missions to knock out other gangs in the area and work your way up the gang ladder. What is different about San Andreas than GTA III is that you can earn different perks such as more respect from your fellow gang members. The game is based more on real life as you have to eat to stay alive and gain energy however, if you eat too much you gain weight. It is very interesting to see this game opposed to the classic GTA III and I look forward to playing this game some more.
