I played this game for another 30 minutes tonight and I have to say that although the game is getting a bit more fun, the content is getting worse.
I had to play the mission where you have to paint your gang signs over the other gangs a couple times. I got asked many times by a prostitute if "I'm looking for a good time". I felt that this content is not something that necessarily should be in games. My reasoning for this is because the negative effects that prostitution has on many people are far greater than any sort of benefit there may be with this. While I don't believe in censorship myself, I do believe that choosing not to add this content may have been a better decision due to the glorification of it that the game makes.
I understand that the developers may have been going for a bit of a shock factor much like Mortal Kombat was back in my day, but I just feel that this is so much more lifelike and more influential than Mortal Kombat ever could have been.
GTA: SA is definitely a game that is meant to push the ethical boundaries but I feel that this is going a bit too far, even if that was the point. This is a game that people as young as 7 or 8 could be playing and this gang style life and a life of Sex and Drugs is being glorified. Being a little bit older than most students here.
