This is my last game log for San Andreas. I'm glad I chose to wait because I thought it would be very interesting to play after discussing in class.
One thing talked about was how the game was supposed to be funny. The whole time I played this game I thought about how I didn't think the game was funny. I think there are different ways to make fun of American culture instead of making people play games about violence, sex, and drugs.
I really don't want to participate in the game missions because I am really offended by what you have to do. So I explored the areas on my bike for awhile. I tried jumping on buildings which was really fun. I enjoyed doing this for awhile. I liked doing this because I was actually good at different stunt tricks and didn't die a million times.
This time I was really focused on a lot of the awful language and hostility that was going around in the game. It made me upset and angry, and after awhile I decided to stop playing.
I understand why this game was picked for the class. I just have decided it's ridiculous and I am glad I never have to play it again.

Today I am continuing to play Grand Theft Auto. I am kind of impressed with how realistic the game looks actually, I meant to say that in my last log. I am having my brother sit with me while I play so that I can maybe get further in the game. I spent a lot of time just stealing cars. I really find this game absolutely ridiculous and I cannot understand why people enjoy playing it at all.
I got to a drive thru to eat food. On the way, the other gangster guys were talking about how they killed moms. I thought this was really odd and not necessary... Is the point to aggravate the main character? After this we order more food than I have ever seen any guy eat and then we have to chase down this other gang car. One of my guys continued eating instead of shooting, which I found really funny. After killing these guys I just truly feel upset or something about the game. It really bothers me that I have to play this. This game is so ridiculous and all it does is promote violence, stealing, and killing. There is no other point to the game but that.
I drove around and stole more cars after that. I do not want to participate in the missions or whatever they are called because I just find them offensive and I do not want to partake in that. Maybe it's because I am a girl, but I do not enjoy games like this. I don't think it's right for a game like this to be on the market. It was kind of fun to steal cars and beat up people, but I then found myself sickened at myself that I enjoyed that sort of thing.

I am not really a fan of the Grand Theft Auto games, so I was a little bit apprehensive when I started to play this one. I think that there are many controversial topics in the game. The whole concept of stealing cars and being involved with drugs and violence is not something I find fun in a game, however, I kept an open mind.
The main character of the game is returning home to bury his mother who he just found to be dead. I thought this was a sad way to start a game, but also thought it was probably a way to set up an intricate story line- maybe the main character is searching for how his mother died or something along those lines. The main character has a run in with the cops and is then dumped in some sort of enemy gang territory. You have to steal a bike to get away, which I thought was interesting as well. Your first mission involves stealing to "live" which clearly shows the ethical controversy of the game.
After the main character discovers how his mother dies, it is clear your mission is going to be to find your mothers killer. There is a lot of interaction with gang members and I died several times, mainly because I am really not very good at video games. I also just didn't understand why people find it fun to have to steal and kill people in a video game, but I guess that's just my opinion. I stole my first car after biking around, and then returned to the main characters home and decided to save the game. While it sounds like I hardly did anything, I had a hard time getting started with the game because I don't really know how to play and I didn't find it very interesting. I suppose the ethical dilemmas in the game are interesting, but I don't find the actual game fun at all.
I am very interested to see what else controversial you have to make the main character do in order to "win" the game, or beat it, or however you finish.
