    Jshibby7's Tony Hawk's Project 8 (360)

The story of the game isn’t too fascinating especially since it’s more or less the same as all the other Tony Hawk skate games. You have the option to choose from 5 different characters; none of which are pro skaters. The premise of the game is that you start out as an unknown, the #200 skater and you must work your way up until you become a # top 8 skater to be a part of Tony Hawk’s latest skate team: Project 8. It has a few main elements that I really look for when choosing to get into a game or not. These criteria include: very few limitations on where you can and can’t go, and stats increase with increasing progress throughout the game. The game is really open in the sense that the player can move all around the worlds, on top of buildings and into pipes and such. Once you unlock the area the only places you really can’t go are inside all buildings. However there actually are some buildings you can go into. I really enjoy games in which the player has few limitations to where you can go because it makes the game more realistic. Another factor that draws me to this game is how the attributes work. The better you are at the game and the more risks you take allow you to increase your stats quicker. There are three levels of achievement to each objective; each level of each objective becomes increasingly difficult. But to pass each level and unlock the next area it isn’t necessary to pass the hardest level of each objective, however your attributes increase more and make your player better the better you do. So they did a nice job of not making the game too difficult while allowing you to choose how good you want your player to be.

Another really important thing I have noticed with this game is the amount of tricks there are. There are literally hundreds of different tricks to choose from in this game. There are about 25-30 different grab’s, around 20 different board flips, 20 or 30 different air born tricks, 20 different grinds, about 20 different manual tricks, and endless amounts of combos. There is even a new game element that allows you to do slow motion board tricks in which you can actually create your own unique tricks. The game allows you to even buy more tricks form the skate shop as you get better.
