So I played another hour of Final Fantasy Legend III and the truth is, the second half of the game is not as enjoyable as the first. I spent the significant portion of my time leveling up and trying to figure out what the hell I was supposed to do. I went through the dungeon and went to what I thought was the end. I ended up picking up an item called "float" that I had no idea how to use. Along with that item, I was having major problems figuring out what any of the items in the game could be used for. All of my characters kept changing into weird fairies and cyborgs and beasts and I was just completely confused. This game is in desparate need of a tutorial and I dont have a manual. I guess I'll just have to go to gamefaqs or something because as of now I can not figure out what I a supposed to do. At least I have a ton of money.

I recently purchased Final Fantasy Legend III at my local Gamestop and have discovered that though the game is not what I expected, it is still surprisingly fun and deep. Within the first hour of playing, the game has already proven itself to be a competeny and enjoyable rpg that so far has not strayed from the formula far at all. The game begins with the ability to name each character which is very similar to what occured in the original Final Fantasy for nes that I played on the remake/port Final Fantasy I and II: Dawn of Souls. I named my characters Link, Samus, Zelda, and Vyse after some of my favorite game characters. Then there is an interesting cutscene in which the "elder" explains that you are to go back in time to stop a great flood that ruined the current world as well as causing monsters to run amok and pretty much take over. From this point on the game simply throws you in with the simple task of going north to gice radar to some ship builder who will enable you to travel to the past.
The gameplay mechanics are interesting enough. All battles are random and the player is gives typical options such as weapon, item, run, magic, and various special attacks. One of the features of the game that I have enjoyed the most are the enemies. Though the graphics are definitely sub-par due to the fact that it is a gbo game, it is still enough to demonstrate humor and creativity. So far enemies have included a hooligan, giant lizards, orc-orcs that look like overgrown pics, three headed wolves, and my personal favorite: a mouse with a satellite on its head. I have also started my first dungeon (I like to make comparisons to Legend of Zelda) and it is actually enjoyable. Battles are fast paced and include some truly creatives enemies, most of the commands execute cleanly and easily and there are even certain items that can morph your characters into various beasts, fairies, and cyborgs. I look forward to playing this game more and keeping you updated!
