I've played two of the night-missions before I had to return the game. I will definitely be picking it up later because there is a lot of interesting stuff in this game. I guess the puzzling part is perhaps the least interesting - I'm more interested in the promise of varying narratives based on in-game choices as well as how everything plays out.
So, what do I know so far?
1. The protagonist (can't recall the name) is in a rut in his relationship with his girlfriend Catherine (or Katherine - not sure which is which). He's basically unmotivated and bored...
2. He's not a very nice guy because, for some unknown reason, at night he joins other guys (sheep!) in a game - losing equals death in the real (in the game) world. I imagine that I'll get to meet some of the guys represented by sheep later on in the game (in the real-world part of the game). Why they're all stuck in this night-time "game" is unclear - but I assume it has something to do with being crappy guys (e.g. misogynistic, selfish, etc.).
3. Your interactions with your girlfriend (and other sheep as well?) can affect a good/bad meter. When you respond to her text messages you can choose different options that represent how much of a jerk you want to be. This seems kind of odd based on (2) above...but perhaps the point is that you atone for your not-quite-a-nice-guyness?
4. I enjoyed the first two levels because, although they weren't hard - they weren't condescendingly easy. The first thing I did, in fact, was die because I thought pressing "X" would do a certain thing - and it didn't (and I fell and died).
Hopefully I'll be able to get back to this before too long...
