This is my 2nd entry to Gamelog for The Legend of Zelda Skyward Sword. I have completed a good portion of the game so far and all I can say is “Wow!” I’m even more satisfied with the unique experience this rewards players the further they delve into this game.
Again what I love most about this game is that it gives unique gameplay compared to other traditional games that you may find on other consoles. While at the same time providing a fantastic storyline that doesn’t stray too far from what this series is known and loved for.
Some of the ideas this game gives me for future products is to not be afraid to try something unique that has not been seen in other games. The simple use of the Wii Motion plus is what takes the cake from me in this aspect. Making every single simple task immersive, being from simply controlling your bird to fly around in the sky, or attacking a simple goblin. The player truly feels immersed in the world that is Zelda.
The only thing I would change about this game is that I wished that some characters had more charm or better relatable personalities when being compared to past characters in the series. Some may go even as far to say that some major characters in this game are to be considered boring, which sadly I will have to agree with them on that point, but at the same time overall they are not bad characters and aren’t completely out of place in the Zelda series. This is an important point though because characters are some of the key elements of a game that helps immerse a player in the experience, which is what a great game aims to do for a player.
The level and story lines of the game are definitely the games strongest points, each level is beautiful and unique from the others without feeling repeated, and the story line is bar none fantastic due to bringing great clarity to the entire series in one game. There is also a fine sense of nostalgia when playing this game (assuming the player has played or at least heard of The Legend of Zelda) , which is always welcomed.
Overall I’m very happy with the Legend of Zelda Skyward Sword, and I’m also glad to see that there is replay ability towards the end of the game which in itself is very rewarding to the player.
