This week I am commenting on Goldeneye 007, which was a very popular Action and FPS Nintendo 64 game. This game, created by developer Rare and publisher Nintendo, was a hit when it came out in 1997, due to the fact that it was one of the first 3D shmups and AI developments. Goldeneye 007 is based on the movie Goldeneye, where secret agent 007 must investigate and stop evil villains from using a secret laser beam satellite from space. The sets from the movie are found all throughout the game, and features an amazing AI for all of the foes you have to shmup. These shmup sprites can become suspicious if they hear gunfire, and can be a danger to you if you are detected, as they will set off an alarm, bringing in the endless array of reinforcements to help take you down. This game, being a secret operations game, is more than a shmup. This game is also a sort of puzzle game, and requires the player to use a series of secret gadgets and devices to either complete various missions or narrowly escape exploding trains and the like. This game also has a multiplayer mode including up to four players, which makes for many hours of gameplay even after the single player mode is completed. This game has great game design, storyline, and outstanding sound tracks. This game is a classic, and A+, and deserves to be in the Hall of great games.
