I played this one beginning to end, no codes! I liked it as a game a lot better than Max Payne 1. Everything worked. No sound issues, screen resolution looked right, controls tighter, better levels, etc. etc. Pretty happy to finally get these out of my backlog, so I can go ahead and buy MP3 in a month or two and will have knocked another series out this year in addition to Halo.
Really nothing to say about the game. It's almost exactly like the first one, more action-y parts, some very cool where you have to run through burning buildings (I think there were 3 areas like this). The funhouse was excellent and creepy, the dream/hallucinations were cool. In this one you play some of the game as Mona, and I enjoyed those levels a lot because they added perspective to Max's point of view, and that one level in the construction yard or wherever where you play as Mona to provide Max cover was fun. Also, guarding the Baseball-bat Boy was amusing.
But the best thing about Max Payne 2 by far? The in-game TV series Lords & Ladies. This had me dying laughing. This is my favorite Rockstar in-game media ever, in all the GTA games and whatever else I've played. It's just set back in the day when there were lords and ladies, and all the characters walk around being overly dramatic saying "but my lord!" and "oh, my lady!" and insulting one another and consorting with people of common stock and upholding their dignity and not talking about their feelings, and being super proper. I freaking loved finding TVs so I could watch this. Seriously, best part of the game.
