I decided to (literally) dust-off my Vita and play a little catch up. Most of this entailed sitting around waiting for an update to install (sigh), but after that I was able to take a look and see what games I had available for download that looked interesting.
Dokuro seemed intriguing to I've given it a whirl. It's essentially a puzzle platformer with a few neat (not INCREDIBLY neat) ideas and a charming art style. It's going to sound incredibly grumpy when I say that I'm getting a bit tired of these kinds of games. They rarely seem to have anything interesting and puzzles seem to be such low hanging fruit at this point. At least as far as game design is concerned. It's all about pushing levers, sliding boxes, standing on buttons, and so on. I'm tired of all that.
And yes, the game is charming in its presentation - the art style is sort of faded and cute, and it's made to look like everything is on a blackboard (chalk is a theme). It's dark (skeletons) but, like I said cute. Chalkboard gothic?
But still...very short levels, most involving a single puzzle or (so far) a multi-step puzzle. I guess I should be thankful the levels are short?
I've reached the 3rd level/world...out of I don't know how many...but still.
I'm just tired. I might keep on going to see if things freshen up or not, but I'm not holding my breath.
