I don't really know why, but neither of the kids were particularly interested in this. I tried - suggesting we play it together and so on, but no luck.
It's not that interesting for ME, so...back on the shelf it goes.

This is another game that I picked up for its co-op mode (and child-friendliness and low price). So far I'm quite impressed by how child-friendly the game is. We haven't started "Aragorn's Quest" proper yet, rather we've been playing as children of Sam Gamgee who are playing through some of the adventures that their Dad participated in. Apparently he's the mayor now, and Hobbiton is hosting a party for the King (Aragorn) who hasn't shown up yet. I'm curious if the "you're playing as kids" will continue. I hope so, it's really cute in a sense.
There are also some interesting co-op things going on. I was playing (young) Frodo Gamgee and my son was playing someone else (a girl hobbit, who was acting like Gandalf). She had spells and could heal me, but her magic bar is restored from picking up "lights" that enemies drop (that I kill). I can't pick them up. There was also a first person mode of sorts where I enter first-person mode and can move the camera, but the other player does the shooting. Interesting and beyond the usual "interlocking" abilities - in this case they really are co-dependent in a strong way that is unusual for games aimed at a younger audience.
