I didn't play this for more than a few hours and, while I'm guessing the main draw is the building component I was simply too frustrated with the driving to really want to spend more time with the game.
I tried a few races and spent most of my time falling off ledges, through holes in the race track, or coming in dead last. I did win a few races, but after a (in my mind) massive number of re-tries. I guess when I play racing games I want to enjoy the feeling of speed, and I get the sense that this game is more about precision and control. Thus, many of the tracks are laid out to discourage "pedal to the metal" driving (which is my default, to be fair). In order to get to that level of precision and control I'm guessing you need a fair amount of time to practice and get better. There's nothing wrong with that, but it's not what I'm looking for in a driving game. I had a notion in my head that the game was more about crazy stunts (loops, etc.) and having fun rather than falling off the track a lot - and maybe getting the stunt to succeed every now and then.
Perhaps this game has more in common with uber-hard-platformer games than most other driving games out there? I guess it's a great example of how the GENRE (driving) of a game can be completely distinct from the EXPERIENCE of playing. Game genres are really hard to pin down (e.g. do you separate gameplay from theme/content? So, is it a horror game or is it a first-person shooter?) and here's another example of why....
