This soooo does not hold up with age. Got this from a Humble Bundle. I thought I'd gotten a bunch of old Sega games, but turns out it was just this one and an emulator. You can buy old Sega games off the Steam store and run them with the emulator. Neat way to cash in on 25-year-old titles I guess.
I adored this game as a kid and spent many a quarter in the arcade on it. Well, in an hour as an adult, I made it way farther than I ever did in the arcade. In fact I thought I beat it! You save the king and queen, who descend (the king hanging upside down like Spider-Man and the queen normally like any other person) from off screen on chains, which I thought were spider webs (?) because the art is so 1989. I was really confused when I thought they were spider webs. But there's another level, alas, and I fell off the ledge twice and don't want to play anymore.
I think the best thing about this game standing in front of ledges, letting enemies rush you, then stepping aside and watching them jump to their death. I had fond memories of the little mana and health gnomes that run around, but I forgot that you have to kick them to get them to drop their goodies, which just makes me feel bad.
