It's essentially a sliding tile puzzle game (as clearly stated all over the box), but I'm surprised by how much additional production went in to provide a story, context, theming, etc. I get the feeling that the whole game is a port of a PC game - mostly because some of the art seems really detailed but also really small for the DS screen...so I'm guessing it was originally for a larger screen and this downsized port just, well....had to make do. I mean, it's still playable and works fine.
The other thing I noticed, and I guess this is just a sign that I've been in game education for too long is that older games look a lot like current student games. I mean that solely in terms of visual polish for stuff like 3D assets and the like. To be fair, I don't think this game was originally a high budget title either, but it goes to show how quickly that bar has risen such that a B-budget game from 6 years ago could easily pass as a student game nowadays (of course most student games don't have the depth of gameplay that even budget titles have).
In terms of gameplay? Well, sliding puzzles but they've added a bunch of things to make them harder. You have to get a character to the exit so:
Doors need unlocking, there are teleporters (payphones, but they're not always symmetrical), blockers (function the same as doors, but instead of keys you need a candle to light some gunpowder), and closets that swap tiles leaving you in place. I'm sure there's more, but I only did 30 or so puzzles...
