Whoops, I thought I had created a log for this when I started playing and now it's too late (having finished the game last night).
One of the things I enjoy about Telltales' games is that they're predictable in terms of their length. Game of Thrones has 6 episodes each of which is about 2 hrs long. So, I knew when I started it up that I was looking at a 12 hr experience and that, for some nights, I'd be able to play an entire episode in one sitting.
As for the game, having enjoyed the books and the TV show I was curious about what the game would do. I think Telltale's solution was pretty clever - AFAIK they made up a new house (Forrester) whose main characters you play and follow over the course of the game. They managed to make sure the characters are either sent or located all over the place (King's landing, Mereen, The Wall) so you get to "visit" lots of the important locations from the series. Also, your characters get to interact with famous characters from the series (Cersei, Danaerys, Jon Snow) and AFAIK they got the original actors to do the voices. So, it feels like a solid part of GoT without having to worry too much about creating (or re-writing) canon. Clever!
My playthrough was as tragic and terrible as you'd imagine for a GoT story. Pretty much everyone died and in the end house Forrester is no more (they were involved in a squabble with another petty house - House Whitehill). I'm guessing that that's the normal/expected outcome, but I'm curious enough to want to read a bit just to see what some of the other endings/resolutions were.
Other than that, it's a solid/regular/what you're expecting kind of game....
