During my time playing there were so many cut scenes. Jack has a new friend that they both share secrets with and I am getting the feeling that this relationship will affect his already fragile relation with his wife. Jack’s new friend opened up about a serious issue that made me feel so bad for her. She is trapped, and it is hard for her to get help. Luckily, she has Jack to talk to or else the situation could get worse. Also, a new serial killer has come to Freeburg and the civilians are going crazy. One day after word got out about the serial killer so many calls were coming in about how they saw the serial killer. I don’t blame the people because if word got out that a serial killer was near me I would be very freaked out too. The day to day police work has gotten very easy. Less police officers are skipping work and more recruits signed up, so I now almost have a full crew. However, the detective work has been so intense. Now that the serial killer is here more and more detectives must be used to catch him and at one point I had five investigations open. I slimed it down to three, so I don’t feel too overwhelmed, but I have been stuck on this one investigation for about 18 days now and I just want to finish this case. The game’s story has really opened up with a lot of different story lines happening. There is the serial killer investigation, the whole problem with Jack’s wife and hiring a private detective. Then there is Jack trying to keep his job and his relationship with his new friend. Also, the head mafia guy randomly called Jack, so I feel like that will turn into something. All these situations are pretty life change so it must be hard for Jack mentally. Jack must deal with all these problems and still command police officer’s day to day. I do not know if real life police chiefs must deal with all this but if they do that must be so hard on them and their families.

This playthrough was so difficult because there was so much happening with my police officers. Every day their was multiple police officers that were drunk or too tired to work. I couldn’t let them all take the day off or else I would have no one on shift. Then a case went wrong and three officers died so I was even more sort staffed. At on point I had eleven officers out of 20 possible officers. Right now there is not a lot of people that are applying so I do not think I will ever have a full staff again. To make matters worse the mayor ordered me to send police officers to a LGBT rally so I sent some people over there and then pretty soon I’m getting taken to court because of unjust force. So in order to save my skin I forged a blackmail note written by the church. Hopefully the court buys it and I do not get into trouble. I do feel kind of bad for blaming the church but I feel worse about losing money in order to black mail them. After the trail four officers quit because the church was talking bad about me so trying to stop crime with a short staff is tough. I am only playing a video game and police work is stress full. I can not even imagine what it must be like for real police officers trying to stop crime while short staffed. In the story Jack is hiring a private detective to find his wife so hopefully that works out. I also was able to chew through a bunch of investigation cases so now I am not behind on those. And in doing this I shut down a criminal organization to earn me thirty thousand dollars. Jack mentioned that he wanted to finish his police career with I think a half million, but I am not even close to that much. Hopefully down the line I can run into some big amounts of money.

For this game log I have decided to play This Is the Police. I bought this game a while back and never was able to finish it. I did not get too far in my previous playthrough, so I continued with the current game. It took me a little while to remember where I was at in the story and what already happened, but I think I know the situation that Jack Boyd is in. I really love the strategy that this game offers. Whether it is deciding on how many officers you assign or who is allowed time off. Then the game will offer other challenges to spice up the day to day police chief duties. The simplistic art style is something that I really like and the voice acting by each character makes every situation feel more real. Jack Boyd is an interesting character that I enjoy learning more about. He does things that I really respect and then he goes ahead and does something that I do not like which really makes him more interesting. The corruption that goes on in this police department makes me wonder what other police departments in the real world do to survive. There is so much evil that could be going on and people would never know. Another cool aspect about this game is how the game has made me care about certain police officers. I still have officers that have been around from the beginning or they have a perfect case completion, so I really get angry if one of them dies or fails a certain case. The investigation part of the game is so hard. I waste so many days just waiting for more frames to come in when I already have all the necessary pieces to complete the sequence. Maybe this is how real-life investigators feel when they have the answer right in front of them, but they can’t figure it out. The story had a huge turn of events that makes future outcomes very interesting. But also, it has made the day to day police officer work a lot crazier. One day I was working with just four police officers, so I failed so many assignments that day. I really hope that doesn’t affect any outcomes in the future.
