As I was figuring out what title to use for this game (Miniclip Sushi Go-Round or just Sushi Go-Round?) I learned that apparently this game is part of some sort of series by Miniclip? Free flash games that were really popular? I'm not sure that I had heard of them? My assumption is that the DS version I played is sort of a cashing-in port by Southpeak (the publisher)...
So, it definitely feels like a short-ish game - a bit easy in the beginning but the game is pretty straightforward, make sushi, remember the recipes and serve customers quickly. I did notice a few interesting wrinkles in how you play I'm not sure I'd seen before...
a. Because the sushi is on a conveyor belt you can run into situations where you've made some sushi for someone further down the line who takes longer to receive it because people in front of them (just arrived) - so you need to watch out for that!
b. I realized you can just start making sushi early, the basic types will get eaten and it lets you get ahead of the curve as it where. The nice thing is that if no one eats the sushi it'll just keep on riding the train around - so there isn't really a downside (other than materials spent and time...)
c. You run out of ingredients! What's interesting as that you need to get on the phone to order more and they slowly appear in your preparation tray area. So, there's an interesting tactical choice you need to make because of the delay in getting the ingredients, not wanting to spend the money to buy them, and whether or not there will be more orders for that ingredient.
d. There's a feature wherein you can take a picture of someone, then edit it, it gets pasted on a body, and now your friend is a patron at your sushi joint! It seems like there's a fair number of games with this feature, but I don't think it was really used all that much? Anyways, I thought it was a fun addition...
e. I only really played the story/campaign - there's a boss patron every few rounds. Apparently if you do well you earn a "kudos" ( I earned one), but I don't really know what the point is - what are they useful for? I didn't want to play long enough to find out really...
