    Oh, I got stuck in the first case - check an online guide and I had done everything I was supposed to so it seems that a thing that should have unlocked automatically (a character giving me permission to search a location that's currently inaccesible - in other words, collect enough evidence to get a warrant) did not unlock. I'm not sure what to do...so I'll just put the game back on the shelf which is a shame...

    Huh. This game was a lot more involved, and had a lot more going on in terms of interface elements and problem solving and sleuthing than I expected! I think it's a great example of "this is what an actual police investigation game could look like". In the beginning I was in fact rather overwhelmed - the game sort of hits you with tutorials out the wazoo and it really opens up a bunch and there were things I didn't really know how to do.

    The only thing I was kind of lost was in picking which tool/method I had to use to collect evidence at different places in the game - I ended up going with trial and error which is never fun. But, I'm guessing that if I had more knowledge/experience with the TV show the game is based on that might have been easier? There's lots of lingo - I think. Then again, I would probably learn it the longer I played and it's fair to have a bit of a learning curve in the beginning.

    I was also surprised by how complex (maybe convoluted at times) the UI is. There's tabs you need to cycle between and it really is important to use and pay attention to both screens. I think this might be the result of the game (possibly? I'm not sure) being a port of an earlier PC game. I would guess they downsampled/downsized a lot of the videos and tried to squeeze everything else in as best they could. If that's the case - then they did a jolly good job! If the game is from a parallel and separate dev process, I'm curious to know why the team went with some design decisions?

    I was expecting a "puzzle" game and this did not deliver on that - it delivered a real CSI-style investigation game. I wonder how well it did, it might have not landed well with the puzzle/hidden object crowd (I've played a lot of those games on the DS recently) since this game seems a notch above the usual in terms of UI and game complexity - not so much on difficulty/puzzles though.
