I'm done with this game, at least for a good long while. I want to spend my time playing other games at the moment.

So I've kept on playing gradius, found that it only gets harder. It is a fun game but can be damn frustrating. Each new level is filled with more obstacles and enemies and barriers that the player must avoid and destroy. If you're playing this game take a couple of breaks so you don't do something you regret.

Well, I picked up gradius and played it for the first time in years. I didn't remember it being so hard. There is a reason that this is on the classics list and it's because the game play still holds up to this day. Like pretty much all NES games, the controls are intuative (the controller only had two buttons) and the goal simple: stay alive and kill anything that moves. From what i've seen so far there is very clearly challenge segmentation, to stay alive and defeat enemies, and boss battles, and kind of a joint spatial/temporal segmentatiion going on as the background is scrolling and because of this gives you a limited amount of time to perform your actions.
