So I played Smash Brothers again after dinner, but this time I played by myself. Because I was so bad before, well, not as bad as last year, I decided to do a practice mode first. I kind of hated the practice mode. It was really boring, and the computer didn't even fight back. I don't know if you can change that or not, I didn't check, but it was really boring. After about 15-20 minutes of doing the practice mode with different characters, I just went and did the battles in single-player mode.
At the beginning it was kind of ridiculously easy to beat the computer. I don't know if it was because of my earlier gameplay or because of the practice mode, but I was really surprised how easy it was. I chose to use Link and the first round was against Link. I beat him pretty quickly then moved on to round two. And that one was against 16, or maybe it was 18, Yoshis. I was really surprised, but then was really relieved when I saw that it only took hitting them off the screen with one good blow to kill them, until the last Yoshi was left. In later rounds, I got partnered up with a computer character against the more difficult players, which was nice, because I'm still not that great. But I think I was doing pretty well for a beginner, but then I died playing against Donkey Kong.
My friend came over again, and we played for the last 15 minutes, and I was a lot better playing against him. Almost everytime I won and had the most kills. I love it when I win! And I also tried playing other characters that I hadn't tried yet. I have to say, I hate Donkey Kong and Ness. They're way too slow. I like fast characters.
I like how easy it is to get used to the controls, and how quickly you can progress with this game. I've only played a few times and am already substantially better than I was the first time I played. I like this game, but it's a lot more fun in a social setting, and probably won't play it alone again.

Alright, so I started playing Super Smash Brothers today, and I've played a couple of other times in the past week and a half, but I sucked. I played last year in the dorms whenever my friends needed another player, but I sucked so much that I didn't like the game. But then again, I was always playing with people who were really good, so they'd just kick my ass, and I was never able to kill anyone. At all. Which is very discouraging when you first start playing a game.
So today I played with my friend, and he is just as bad as I am, so it was a lot more fun. We picked different players each time to try and learn their moves and see which player we were best at playing. Got used to the controls, and then killed. I really like fighting games, and usually I'm mostly just a button masher until I figure out one kind of good move, then I just use it over and over again. Like the throws in Soul Caliber III. But in Smash Brothers, it's easier to do different moves, and I actually know them so I don't have to just mash buttons. It's kind of nice.
I really like that the different landscapes correspond to the land of one of the characters. I think it's pretty cool. It's one of the things I really like about this game. I think that Link's castle is my favorite one because you have a lot of room to run around without falling off. Something I like to do, which I know is cheap, is to get the sword when it comes onto the screen and hit someone off the screen, and when they come back just keep hitting them until they die. It's just like baseball to me!
My favorite characters to play are Link, Samus, Fox, and Captain Falcon.
