As I am playing Mario Kart with three other people racing through all the courses, I noticed that if you were in first you get punished the most. When you are driving and getting the question marks with the special moves the people not in first get the better special moves like a star or lightning where it makes everyone smaller except yourself. When you are in first you get punished the most because you only get banana peels or green shells where it does limited damage to the other players.

What's your opinion of that? There's always that whole debate on "catch up" dynamics. The two sides generally being:

1) It makes the game less cruel so its easier not to get your ass completely handed to you ever time you play

2) But then again, it means even when you get good, you can't wipe the walls with your hapless victims as brutally...which is fun.
