Today i bought Soul Calibur III. This first thing I did of course was create a character. This process was a little difficult at first since the control for the menus are not very clear. However, after a couple minutes I got used to scheme and created with ease (creating about 5 characters by the end of the session), Like the Soul Calibur games the fighting feels good to me because it is buttom-mashily simple to configure, but more difficult to master. This game introduces a few new modes to the Soul Calibur series, of them I tried out the "story" type mode in which the player gets an extended version of each characters story. I enjoyed this mode because the story connected the battles together thus bringing more depth to the fighting genre. The games primary conflict is between the player and thier opponent, the secondary conflict iis between the player and the combos, not as much fighting them but figure them out specifically (too many times in a button masher do I say "That was cool..now how did I do that?"). This game will keep me interested for a long while based on the pure scope and depth of the game. With story mode for about 20 characters plus about 8 to 10 classes to create and play, plus "Chronicles of the Sword" which is an RTS campaigne to play through.
