iLuvCortana's GameLog for Halo: Combat Evolved (XBX)

    Monday 12 February, 2007

I played the original Halo for the first time in a while. I usually just play Halo 2 online or multiplayer with friends. When I switched from playing Halo 2 to Halo, I could notice a large difference in graphics and gameplay. The graphics for the original Halo are much simpliar than Halo 2 mainly because it was one of the first xbox games to be released.
For the first hour of gameplay I played the very first level with a friend in Legendary mode. In the first level we start out aboard a ship where we get attacked by aliens (Covenant) who board the ship and try to take it over. The flow of this first level is very straight forward and is almost impossible to get lost. While my friend and I were attacking the Covenant forces it was pretty easy to destroy all the enemies with out having to revert back to the last checkpoint because if one of us died we could leave combat and wait for the other to respawn. This part in the game brings the difficulty of the game down, but is fixed in Halo 2's Legendary mode.

    First Game log

    Summary:

The game I played was Halo 1 on the x-box. The goal of the game is to kill all other opponents. The way you kill your opponents is by using the weapons on the designated map. There are also a certain number of kills you must attain to win the game. The maps on the game are of different terrain from buildings to even jungles.

Playing the game is very exhilarating. I feel as if I am in the game myself. The only difference is that I am safe from harm. Halo serves as another world where my imagination can tune in. I feel as if the most important part of the game is the social interaction and competition with other people. The game measures the skills of both you and you opponents and the fun part is the result- who is better? Halo serves as another challenge in the game world to see who can be the best.
Halo is as realistic as you can get. In the game you play as a human trying to kill other humans. What I like about the game is that your movement in the halo world is similar to the real world. For example, while in the game if you try to jump off a platform at such great heights you hurt yourself. Other games will allow it, but halo tries not to defy the laws of physics. Another example, of a realistic movement is throwing the grenades. When you throw a grenade it obeys the law of physics. For example, the distance of a thrown grenade depends on your angle- exactly like mathematical parabolas.
